National Entrance Examination for Design (NEED - 2009)

Eligibility: 1. Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations in 2008 under the Higher Secondary (10+2), or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ICSE etc. Candidates passing the Institute’s admission tests/ interviews will be admitted, subject to passing their qualifying examinations before they join the Institute. - - - - - 2. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 01, 2009. - - - - - Competence in technical and related subjects will normally be considered an advantage.

Application procedure: Application forms along with the prospectus for the ensuing academic year will be made available on request from the second week of October on payment of Rs.1500/- (Rs.750/- for reserved categories SC/ST/PH/OBC) by a Demand Draft of any nationalised bank drawn in favour of the ‘ National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad, along with a self-addressed envelope of 8” X 12” size with Rs.25/- stamps affixed. Make your envelope “NEED NID Admissions 2009”.

Forms can also be obtained from select branches of Bank of India (listed below) on payment of Rs 1500/- towards the cost of the form plus Rs 30/- as bank charges. (Forms at concessional rates to reserved categories are available only from NID, Ahmedabad.)

Forms downloaded from NID’s website www.nid.edu along with required amount of DD drawn in favour of National Institute of Design payable at Ahmedabad will also be accepted.

Exam Centers Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Oman. (NID reserves its right to cancel any of these centres).

Courses Offered Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) - 90 Seats (4 Years) 4 year GDPD Programme (Includes a Foundation Year) is offered in the following disciplines: i) Industrial Design : (Product Design, Furniture and Interior Design, Ceramic & Glass Design) ii) Communication Design: (Graphic Design, Animation Film Design, Film & Video Communication, Exhibition [Spatial] Design) iii) Textile and Apparel Design: (Textile Design)
