NMIMS Management Aptitude Test-NMAT 2010 Online Application Process

NMAT is the MBA entrance exam for admissions to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai. The NMAT is designed on multiple-choice question format that include Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation.

Candidates will get admission if they meet the required standards of a two-stage selection process. All eligible candidates are required to appear for the computer based NMAT to be conducted across the country. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for group discussion, a computer-based test and personal interview at selected centres.

NMAT (effective from 2010) is now an online admission test conducted in India and abroad during a predetermined 10 days period for admission to the following programs:

MBA Core
MBA (Pharmaceuticals Management)
MBA (Actuarial science)
MBA (Capital Markets)
MBA (Banking)
MBA (Part - Time)
Ph.D Program in Management


Eligibility-: MBA-Core:

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

MBA Actuarial Science-:

Candidates should have attained any of the following Educational Standards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate at graduation/post graduation degree level examination.

a. Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in Statistics / Mathematics / Engineering/ Economics/Computer Science/Allied Sciences with minimum 50% marks in Aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

b. Graduate or Post Graduate with Mathematical subjects. For this purpose following subjects constitute mathematical subjects :

• Mathematics or any of its branches • Statistics or any of its sub classification such as Mathematical Statistics and Applied Statistics • Economics • Computer Science • Any discipline of Engineering • Subject in Science such as Physics or its allied branches

c. Candidate with graduation/ post graduation from other disciplines should have passed 10+2 (H.S.C.) or equivalent with at least 85% in Mathematics / Statistics.

d. Fully qualified members of following professional bodies are also eligible.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)

The Institute of Cost and Works Accountant of India (ICWAI)

MBA Banking Management & MBA Capital Market-:

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

MBA Pharmaceutical Management-:

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in Life Sciences/ Pharmacy, Microbiology and bio-tech, bio-chemistry from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Also Post Graduates in Sociology / psychology / Economics / Anthropology are eligible. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

Ph.D. Programme-:

A. The students may be drawn from those with qualifications from any of the streams listed Below:

• Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines like humanities, social sciences, pure sciences and Commerce, from a recognized university/ deemed university/ institution recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

• Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration, considered equivalent to MBA by AIU.

B. Minimum Marks required-:

60% marks or equivalent CGPA at PG level.

C. Work Experience-:

At least 5 years full time work experience in executive or supervisory capacity after obtaining Master’s Degree.

D. Engineering students with 65% marks or equivalent CGPA at degree level with 5 years work experience in Academic/Academic Institution/ Research/ Corporate.

Teaching Assistantship of Rs. 25000/- will be available to students for period of 4 years, in addition there would an academic fee waiver. Research grants of Rs. 10,000/- per annum for Ph.D. Research.

For Part Time MBA-:

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from recognized University OR Equivalent pattern recognized by the UGC & AIU. Three Years Post qualification work experience in Supervisory / Executive Cadre as on 31st December 2009 is essential.

Eligibility Criteria for EPGDBM(Bangalore Campus)-:

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from recognized University OR Equivalent pattern recognized by the UGC & AIU with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Five Years Post qualification work experience in Supervisory / Executive Cadre as on 31st December 2009 is essential.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirement and are awaiting results can also apply. But their admission will be subject to their fulfilling the eligibility norms as mentioned above.

Selection Process-:
All those who registered successfully will be called for the NMAT, provided they satisfy condition of eligibility. It is the sole responsibility of the candidates to check that he/she is eligible as per the criteria. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of NMAT Score, Group Discussion, Personal Interview, Presentation (as applicable) and work experience. The selection criteria will be based on merit. The cut-off for deciding the merit shall lie solely with NMIMS University.

In this regard, the decision of the NMIMS University will be final and undisputable and shall be binding on all concerned.

UGC NET December 2009 Application Process

The University Grants Commission (UGC) announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 27th December, 2009 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and eligibility for Lectureship in Indian universities and colleges. UGC will conduct NET in 77 (seventy seven) subjects (listed under item no. 9) at 66 (sixty six) selected University Centres (listed under Item no. 10) spread across the country.

The result of the UGC-NET held on 28th June, 2009 and the one to be held on 27th December, 2009 will be made available on the UGC website : www.ugc.ac.in and shall also be published in the Employment News as and when it is declared. The candidates will not be individually intimated about their result. The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Lectureship. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The award of JRF will depend on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Lectureship will not be considered for award of JRF. Candidates appearing in NET should clearly specify in the prescribed Application Form whether they are applying for both JRF & eligibility for Lectureship OR only for eligibility for Lectureship. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Lectureship will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Lecturers of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Visually Handicapped (VH)/ Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates will be given such special concessions as may be decided by the Commission.

2) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP :
Candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship will be eligible to receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to finding their placement in universities/IITs/institutions. The validity period of the offer is two years w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. However, in case the candidates have already joined M.Phil/Ph.D., the date of commencement of fellowship shall be from the date of declaration of NET result or date of their joining, whichever is later.

3) CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY :
i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least
50% marks (without rounding off) in Master's degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master's degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master's degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

iv) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation
only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of
subjects in item No. 9, may appear in a related subject.

v) Candidates seeking concession in fee are required to submit attested copy of their OBC/SC/ST/PH/VH certificate along with their Application Forms. Other candidates are not required to submit any certificates/ documents in support of their eligibility alongwith the Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the Commission at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.

4) AGE LIMIT & RELAXATION :
i) Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years as on 01.12.2009. A
relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ VH categories and to women applicants.

Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post- graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority.

Three years' relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing
L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five
years under any circumstances.

ii) Lectureship : No upper age limit.


5) EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP) :
i) NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/ Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions."

The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.

ii) For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Lectureship anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer only in the universities/ colleges belonging to the state from where they have cleared their SET. All SET qualified candidates are also eligible to appear in NET, if they so desire.


6) EXAMINATION FEE AND MODE OF PAYMENT :
For General candidates, the examination fee is Rs.450/-; for Other Backward Classes (OBC), the fee is Rs. 225/- and for SC/ ST/ PH/ VH candidates, it is Rs. 110/-. The fee should be paid in the form of a single crossed demand draft from any Government of India Bank/Scheduled Government Bank payable at their Service Branch, New Delhi/Delhi only with six months' validity drawn in favour of the Secretary, U.G.C., New Delhi. Fee once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances.

7) SCHEME AND DATE OF TEST : th
(i) The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will be held on 27th December, 2009 in two separate sessions as under :

Paper I For 100 Marks - 09.30 A.M. to 10.45 A.M
Paper II For 100 Marks - 10.45 A.M. to 12.00 NOON
Paper III For 200 Marks - 01.30 P.M. to 04.00 P.M



Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. UGC has decided to provide choice to the candidates from the December 2009 UGC-NET onwards. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated

Paper-II shall consist of short questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each of these papers will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 objective type questions of two marks each. The candidate will have to mark the response for each question on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided along with the Test Booklet. The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR Sheet will be sent to the candidate along with the Admit Card.

Paper-III will consist of only descriptive questions from the subject selected by the candidate. The candidate will be required to attempt questions in the space provided in the Test Booklet. The format of Paper-III has been revised w.e.f. June,2005 UGC-NET and is available on the UGC website www.ugc.ac.in.

The final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship shall be decided by UGC before declaration of result.

ii) Negative Marking in Paper-I & Paper-II : Negative marking at the rate of 25% has been introduced from December 2009 UGC-NET onwards. For each incorrect answer, 0.5 marks shall be deducted.

iii) For Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates thirty minutes' extra time shall
be provided separately for paper-I and Paper-II. For paper-III, forty five minutes' extra time shall be provided. They will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate. Those Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates who are not in a
position to write in their own hand-writing can also avail these services by making prior request (at least one week before the date of UGC-NET) in writing to the centre Co-ordinator. Extra time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Physically Handicapped candidates.

iv) Syllabus of Test: Syllabi for all NET subjects can be downloaded from the UGC Website www.ugc.ac.in and are also available in the libraries of all Indian universities. UGC will not send the syllabus to individual candidates.

v) In Paper III, candidate has the option to answer either in Hindi or in English in all subjects except the languages where the candidate is required to write in the concerned language only. In case of Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science and Environmental Sciences, the
question papers will be in English only.

vi) In case of any discrepancy found in the English and Hindi versions, the questions in English version shall be taken as final.


8) IMPORTANT :
i) The national level Test for determining the eligibility of candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship/Lectureship in science subjects (Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Physical Sciences) is conducted jointly with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. The candidates in science subjects, desirous of availing UGC-JRF or obtaining eligibility for Lectureship in these subjects are advised to appear in the Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship conducted by CSIR. ii) The UGC-NET for JRF/eligibility for Lectureship will be held at the University Test Centres specified in the list under item No. 10. PLEASE NOTE THAT CHANGE OF CENTRE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Admission to MBBS/BDS course under 15% merit positions in medical/dental colleges

All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) 2010 to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi as per the following schedule for admission to 15% of the total seats for Medical/Dental Courses in all Medical/Dental Colleges run by the Union of India, State Governments, Municipal and other local authorities in India except in the States of ANDHRA PRADESH AND JAMMU & KASHMIR :-

1. Preliminary Examination - 3rd April, 2010 (Saturday)

2. Final Examination - 16th May, 2010 (Sunday)

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION: BOTH PRELIMINARY AND FINAL EXAMINATION WOULD BE OBJECTIVE TYPE.

Eligibility Criteria-:
(i) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year
M.B.B.S./B.D.S. course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.

(ii) The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination. Further provided that upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes.

(iii) The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates.

(iv) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together
in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of
candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes
the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying
examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. Further, for persons for
locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and
40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are taking plus two
examination in 2010 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.

(v) 15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates, 27% seats for non-creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Institutions only and 3% seats on horizontal basis for Physically Handicapped candidates are reserved in 15% All India Quota for
MBBS/BDS courses.

A candidate can apply for the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination in either of the following two ways:-

Offline-:
Offline submission of Application may be made on the prescribed Application Form. The
Information Bulletin and Application Form costing Rs.800/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.450/- for SC/ST category can be obtained against Cash Payment from the designated branches of Canara Bank/Regional Offices of the CBSE between 20-10-2009 to 27-11-2009. The programme is of use to those who are engaged generally in the development sector and particularly in R and R divisions of development projects of the government, private sector as project officers, technical experts, field staff or desk staff and those working with the NGOs, industrial establishments and other agencies involved in R and R of those displaced by development projects.

• Strategize participatory planning of resettlement and rehabilitation
• Appreciate the participatory implementation and monitoring of resettlement and rehabilitation
• understand theoretical perspectives in the study of R&R

UGC Post Graduate Merit Scholarship Scheme

University rank holders at undergrad level (general and honours courses) for the academic session 2009-11. For pursuing PG studies in basic subjects - non-professional courses only. Awardees under this scheme can pursue PG programs in any area of specialisation as also in any institution of higher learning in the country recognised by UGC. Schools are for two years at Rs.2000 pm (10 months in a year). There are 1800 schools per year for general course and 575 per year for honours course.

RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme 2010

Reserve Bank of India-RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme 2010

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme to generate interest in and awareness about the Indian banking sector and RBI. Under the Scheme, the RBI will select a maximum of 150 young scholars through a countrywide competitive examination and awarded scholarship. Selection test will focus on the role and functions of RBI and banks in India and will be held in English as well as in all major regional languages.

Selected candidates will be required to work on projects in select offices of RBI for 2 to 3 months and will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 7500/- per month during the duration of the project. RBI will assist outstation awardees in boarding and lodging. The awardees shall have no right/claim for an appointment
in the RBI.

All students, between 18 and 23 years of age, currently pursuing their undergraduate studies in any subject under any recognized university in India, are eligible to take the competitive examination. There is no application fee. The selection test will be held on January 10, 2010 at various centres across India.
The results of the selection test are likely to be announced in the middle of March 2010.

Eligibility-:

Admissions to the PGDM (C) programme requires a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 (4) system) with minimum 50% marks or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates appearing for the final examination towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply.

Students with demonstrable aptitude for expressing, assessing or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results, will stand better chances of being shortlisted.

Selection Procedure-:

The selection process for the PGDM (C) involves three steps:

Stage - I
CAT / GMAT

Candidates have to apply on the basis of CAT 2009 or GMAT (Score of 31 December 2007 or later).

Indian students can also apply with GMAT scores.

GMAT score of 600+ can also be considered in lieu of CAT. (However shortlisting will be conducted depending on the number of applications).

The CAT cut-off percentile for the 2009-2011 : 90 percentile and above overall with sectional cut off of 50 percentile and above in DI & QT. For verbal comprehension, sectional cut off was 60 percentile and above.

Stage - II
MICA Admissions Test (MICAT)

Candidates shortlisted from CAT/GMAT will be invited to appear for the MICAT, which will be conducted in Feburary / March at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The MICAT is designed to assess analytical and divergent thinking, written communication skills and familiarity with the Indian ethos.

Note: The Institute reserves the right to change any MICAT Centre without assigning any reason.

Eligibility & Minimum Qualifications : An applicant possessing the following qualifications in appropriate area shall be eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. programmes of the Institute:
(a) Masters degree in Engineering / Technology/Architecture/Urban & Rural Planning/Sciences/ Humanities & Social Sciences and Management in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters) where marks are awarded. OR Applicants with B.Tech./B.Arch. degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 70% marks) may be considered eligible for admission.
(b) Applicants for admission for full-time studies who do not possess a M.Tech./M.Arch./MURP degree or equivalent in the relevant field must have a valid GATE score (at least 75 percentile) for Engineering / Technology/ Science disciplines or must have qualified national level fellowship examinations such as NET (JRF/LS) conducted by UGC/CSIR for Science/ Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.
(c) Engineering/Architecture graduates from IIT/University of Roorkee having CGPA Score > 8.00 or marks > 80%. Relaxation in eligibility requirement in terms of minimum CGPA upto 5.5 or 55% marks in aggregate will be given to SC/ST,
physically handicapped applicants and those with M.A. English (for admission to Ph.D. English in the Deptt. of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT Roorkee) as per Institute regulations.
Reservation for OBC/SC/ST/PD will be as per Govt. of India directive/Institute rules.
• Few Institutional assistantships (MHRD) may be available to non sponsored full time candidates. Eligible employees of "IIT Rookee recongnised organisations" may be considered as per regulations for admission to part time Ph.D. Programmes .

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP: A limited number of fellowships are available to carry out advanced research in all the disciplines as mentioned above. Interested candidates having a Ph.D. Degree may apply for Post-Doctoral Fellowship in all the
disciplines mentioned above.
Qualification: Candidate with a Ph.D. degree in Science and Engineering or those who have recently submitted their doctoral theses can apply. Age: Criteria for age should be same as for Ph.D. Duration : 2 years (renewable for one more year).
Fellowship : (i) Rs. 25,000/- p.m. for a Ph.D. with 2 years experience (ii) Rs. 20,000/- p.m. for a recent Ph.D. degree holder.
Contingency : Rs. 20,000/- per annum. H.R.A. : As admissible Desirable: First class in degree preceding to Ph.D. and publications in journals of repute.

ELIGIBILITY-:
MBA & MBA (MS) programmes: Candidates applying for admission to the 2-year full time MBA & MBA (MS) programmes must have pursued at least a 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme after 12 years of formal schooling.

The minimum requisite percentage of marks (in aggregate) in different disciplines, Arts, Commerce or social science (50%) Science (55%), Mathematics or Statistics (60%), Medicine, Engineering or Technology (60%)/CGPA of at least 6.00 in a scale of 10.00 or Post Graduate Degree or 2nd Degree examination after 10+2+3 scheme, securing at least 60% marks. Candidates appearing for the final examination of bachelor’s/post-graduate degree examination may also apply.

Doctoral programme: All candidates, except foreign nationals and teachers of the University of Delhi with minimum of two years of teaching experience, are require to take the admission test to be held on Sunday 10th January 2010.
