Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) has major research programs in Disease Biology & Molecular Medicine as well as Plant Biotechnology & Discovery. Applications are invited from Postgraduates in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biotechnology, Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences for our PhD program, currently affiliated to University of Kerala.

General category applicants must have First Class or above throughout and a valid Research Fellowship from UGC/CSIR/ICMR/KSCSTE or Category A of DBT and should be less than 28 years of age as on June 1 of 2010.

SC/ST candidates with a valid fellowship need to have only 50% marks, will be eligible for age relaxation as per rules, and are exempt from processing fees.

There is a fee of Rs. 500 (Rupees Five hundred only) for all general candidates. A Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, RGCB and payable at Thiruvananthapuram should be enclosed along with the application. The name of the candidate and the telephone number should be written in pencil behind the DD.
SC/ST candidates are exempt from paying any fees.

PGD in Forestry Management at IIFM Admissions 2010

Indian Institute of Forest Management-IIFM Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management-PGDFM Admissions 2010


Admission to the fully residential two year PGDFM is open to graduates from any discipline provided he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria and qualifies through the selection process.

Eligibility-:

Applicants should have (a) at least a three-years bachelor's degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PD) or equivalent CGPA.

Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2010 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.

Admission Procedure-:

STEP-1: Common Admission Test (CAT)

All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM, Bhopal have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) between 28th November to 07th December 2009 by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies dated 30th August 2009. The CAT bulletin can be obtained from selected branches of Axis Bank on payment before 1st October 2009. IIFM will use the CAT score only for short-listing the candidates for two year full time post graduate programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

STEP-2: IIFM Application Form :

In addition to CAT, the candidates should fill up a separate application form for admission to PGDFM. This form can be obtained either personally or by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs 900/- (Rs 450/- for SC / ST) drawn in favour of "Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management" payable at Bhopal. Alternatively, the form can be downloaded from the website and the filled in hardcopy of the form along with the Draft for the specified amount should be sent to IIFM. Alternatively the information bulletin and the application form can be purchased by paying cash at the various centres of the following coaching institutes (Photocopy of the cash receipt issued by the coaching institute should be attached) :

Filled in application form, complete in all respect including the CAT registration number (which will be available on CAT admit card, issued by IIM) should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 10th December 2009. Applicant should attach the photocopy of CAT admit card along with IIFM application form.

STEP-3: Group Discussion/Interview:

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT score, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview at IIFM, Bhopal during February/March 2010.

Reservation-:

15%, 7.5% and 3% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PD respectively, provided they meet the minimum selection criteria as specified by IIFM. The Institute will also be implementing the OBC quota for non-creamy layer in a phased manner.

The PGDFM application form and bulletin will be dispatched to the candidates soon after receiving their requests along with the required application fee. IIFM will not be responsible for any postal delay or loss. If a candidate, after having made a request to IIFM with the requisite money, does not receive the application form, she/he may enquire about it through Phone, Fax or E-mail.

The MBA (Operations Management) program at SIOM is designed to meet the needs of diverse sectors of economy viz. manufacturing, service, IT and consulting. It provides students the skills and knowledge necessary to design, manage, analyze, and improve the operations systems in those business sectors. Students develop both, an in-depth strategic understanding of operations systems, their components, contributions, and interactions with other functional areas and the analytical and computer tools necessary to address both strategic and tactical issues.

Eligibility -:
Engineering Graduates from recognized university with minimum 50% aggregate marks (all years put together) or equivalent grades. For SC/ST candidates minimum marks are 45%. Graduates from part time, distance learning and correspondence courses are not eligible. Final year students can apply subject to their fulfilling the eligibility latest by 30th September 2010.

Selection Procedure-:

STAGE I:
SNAP Written test - Interested candidates must appear for the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP test) on 20th December 2009. SNAP test registration is a must.

STAGE II:
Group Discussions and Personal Interviews- Candidates from the first stage will be short listed on various parameters like SNAP score, work exp, academic performance, etc to appear for Group Discussions and later if short listed for Personal Interviews as per the schedule at Nashik .

STAGE III:
Those short listed from Stage II will be issued Admission Offer letters as per the Merit List. The Merit list shall be declared to the students on the website on February 26, 2010.

STAGE IV:
Payment of Fees and confirmation of admission – Candidates on final Merit list must complete their admission by paying the first installment of fees latest by 10th March, 2010. Admissions from waitlist will be announced on 12th March, 2010. Such candidates must pay fees latest by 22nd March, 2010. Further vacancies if any will be announced on the website.

Applications are invited from Indian Citizens for admission to undergraduate courses in Engineering/Technology/ Medical/Dental and Pharmacy in Universities/Colleges in West Bengal and B. Arch Course in Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur and Jadavpur University for the academic session 2010-2011, on the basis of a JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, to be conducted by the "WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD". Eligibility -: The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together (40.00% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30.00% marks in English (for all categories). In addition, candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects
individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below:
B.E/B.Tech./B.Arch :Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.
M.B.B.S/B.D.S. : Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2010 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2010 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed,
will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age Restriction : Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2010. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2010.

Residential Requirements: Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering / Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2009 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in the State of West Bengal.

1 Pass in 10 + 2 examination from a recognized Board/University with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), with not less than 55% marks in PCM aggregate. OR

With Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B.Sc., with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc., from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10 + 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board. OR

Eligibility-:
(1) Candidates who have secured 55% marks and above in their P.G. degree

Full-time Sponsored: A candidate in this category will be sponsored by recognized R&D

Part-time Self Sponsored (Internal): A candidate in this category will be an employed person of NIT Patna who is desirous of pursuing Ph. D. Programme simultaneously while discharging the duties of his/ her services. He/ she must be a regular employee of the Institute. The Institute does not provide any assistantship/ fellowship to such candidate.
Part-time Self Sponsored (External): This category refers to the candidates employed in R&D organization/ academic institution/ Industry having adequate research facilities. The research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree shall be carried out largely in the parent organization but with overall guidance provided by faculty member (Institute Supervisor) of the department in which he/ she is enrolled. He/ she must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least
two years of professional experience in the relevant field. The Institute does not provide any assistantship/ fellowship to such candidate.

Eligibility:
Candidates with following qualification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph. D. Programme of the Institute.
For Engineering, Technology and Architecture Departments:

Samsung India & India's National Academy of Letters, Sahitya Akademi ,recently signed an MoU to institute the 'Tagore Literature Awards ' named after the legendary Shri Rabindranath Tagore.

The National Institute of Immunology (NII) is an autonomous institution supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute is committed to advanced research addressing the basic mechanisms involved in body's defence, host-pathogen interactions and related areas with a view to contribute to the creation of an internationally competitive intellectual knowledge base as a sustainable source of innovative futuristic modalities of potential use in health care.

National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for its Ph.D. programme. Cutting-edge research at the Institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas –

Minimum qualifications-:
M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.

First Division or equivalent grade or at least 60% of aggregate scores in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) onwards is required.

Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements at the time of joining.

Selection procedure-:
Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test at their own expenses on February 13,2010 at any of the following
four centres - Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata & Ahmedabad. The Institute shall try to accommodate the choice of centers indicated by the candidate.
However, in case of non-availability of a seat at the centers chosen by the candidate, the candidate shall be required to appear for the written qualifying test at the centre allotted by the Institute.

The written test is aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend, analyse and reason. Therefore, the examination is General Aptitude Test & no separate syllabus is prescribed.

The results of the written test along with the details of the interviews shall be available on the website of the Institute as well as on the Notice Board of the Institute
on February 22,2010.

Interviews will be held at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from June 3-6, 2010. The Interviews will be held in two stages. The candidates will be short-listed for the final interview based on their performance in the first interview. Final interview will be held in the last two days.

The selected candidates would be paid second class train fare for joining the Ph.D. Programme on providing the proof of journey.

Candidates selected after the interviews will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of Nil in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.

Ph.D. Programme-:
The programme will start on 15th July, 2010.

The Institute will provide a Fellowship stipend of Rs.12000/14000/- per month depending on the degree qualifications.

Shared hostel accommodation will be available on request. The request for single occupancy shall be considered only after the completion of 3rd year subject to the availability of accommodation.

Toyota Technical Education Program - T-TEP in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation and its nationwide dealer network, has introduced a distinctive training model for Body and Paint Repair (BP) under the Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP), at the Sir C. V. Raman Industrial Training Institute, Delhi.

T-TEP, a special training module was launched in 2006 in India. In a span of 4 years, 16 institutes have been covered under the program. In its first year, the program was implemented in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hubli. The program was subsequently introduced in Bangalore, Pune, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Indore and Mumbai.

With this program, Toyota Kirloskar Motor intends to enhance the technical abilities and employability of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) students in the age group of 16 to 18 years. The program will benefit ITIs in building skillful technicians for the Indian automotive repair industry. The current automobile repair industry is characterised by inadequately skilled manpower and lack of professional training for repair and diagnostics, especially for the vehicle models, introduced recently, in the market.TTEP is a unique initiative undertaken by TKM, in partnership with ITIs and its dealers across India, to remove this lacuna.

Today's event marks the launch of a "New Body and Paint Repair Syllabus" under the T-TEP program. This syllabus, a first of its kind in India, has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Training and Technical Education, Government of NCT, Delhi. The syllabus imparts training on basic body and paint repair skills in addition to dealer specific requirements to students, thereby improving their knowledge of repair techniques and facilitating the adoption of latest technology in BP. Currently BP technicians have limited information and hands on experience in the usage of correct repair operations and techniques, forcing dealers to recruit manpower from local garages. Toyota along with its supplier partners, Asian PPG and 3M, will provide all necessary support to the institute i.e. training consumables, visiting faculty, training material, tools, equipments, scholarships etc. To begin with, the course will provide training to 40 students every year.

The T-TEP Body and Paint curriculum, a 1 year syllabus, under the State Council of Vocational Training, introduces students to Toyota's advanced technology and service techniques. It also includes, on-the-job training, at Toyota's dealerships. As a part of this program, TKM will also train institute instructors in the latest technology, used at Toyota and the automobile industry.

TKM plans to introduce this program to technical institutes across the countries in the coming years and reach out to over 500 students per year. The project is jointly funded by Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Together they provide T-TEP institutes with hi-tech training packages and Toyota service training manuals and materials. Asian PPG and 3M have also extended their support by providing latest equipments and material required for training.

T-TEP supports Toyota's comprehensive human resource development system that extends from training at T-TEP institutes to recruitment and development at Toyota dealerships.

T-TEP is widely recognized across the globe for its effectiveness. The program has been successfully introduced in 53 countries by Toyota, which includes USA, Australia, Italy, South Africa, China, Vietnam and India.

The University invites applications for admission to Master of Business Administration (Banking & Finance)-January 2010 Cycle. The Prospectus which is already on sale, can be obtained from any of the Regional Centres listed below or Registrar (SRD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi - 110 068, on payment of Rs.500/- in cash or Rs.550/- through Demand Draft for sending by post. Candidate should be a member of Indian Institute of Bankers, should have passed the CAIIB examination and should be a Graduate working in the Banking or Financial Services Sector for at least two years. The last date for submission of the application form for MBA(B&F) at Regional Centre is 30-11-2009. Application form can also be downloaded from IGNOU website at http://www.ignou.ac.in and submitted along with DD for Rs. 500/- in addition to the Programme Fee.

Application for admission to the Ph.D Programme may be submitted on the prescribed form at any time during the year to the Director, Research Unit, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110 068. Application received upto 30th June – An Entrance Exam will be conducted during August of the year and will be considered to the January session of the year. Applications received upto 31st December – An Entrance Exam will be conducted during February of the year and will be considered for admission to the July Session of the year.
