Srishti offers a 2 year Advanced Diploma Program in Transcultural Design in a joint collaboration with L’Ecole de Design, Nantes Atlantique, France. The curriculum for this program has been developed in partnership with L’Ecole de Design and will concentrate on aspects of interaction design, responsible innovation, ethnography and cultural hybridity in design. Starting in October 2010, the program will involve 2 residencies in France, of which one will be an industry internship. Selection to the program will be based on the recommendations of an international jury.

Open to graduates in any design or innovation discipline (or professionals with relevant experience), this program will open up research and professional opportunities in this fast-emerging field- which also looks at responsible innovation, new product and service design, cross-cultural interaction design, research and representation methods and cultural hybridity as possible areas of application.

National Talent Search Examination-NTSE 2011

The purpose of the NTSE scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas. The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honours and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship. For the courses in Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph.D. level. For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation. The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class VIII only.


1. Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for Class VIII examinations. The amount of scholarship will be Rs.500/- per month as per NTS rules.

2. Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students.

3. Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage I will be eligible to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT.

4. The States/UTs will also conduct the selection test for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme along with the Stage-I written examination for NTS.

5. Important Dates: Dates for Submission of Application Form and conduct of examination are given below:

Stage I (State)

Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Examination in All other States and Union Territories 21st November, 2010 (Sunday)

6. Eligibility: Students of Class VIII studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the respective Class VIII Stage I examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the schools are
located. There will be no domicile restriction.

7. Examination: The pattern of written examination for Class VIII will be as follows:

* Stage I examination at the State/UT level will comprise two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.

* Stage II examination at the National level will comprise (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT), (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics, (c) Interview. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for interview.

8. State Quotas: Each State/Union Territory has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage II examination, the details of which will be made available on NCERT website. However, there will be no State/Union Territory Quota for the final award of scholarship after the Stage II examination. Reservation for SC, ST and physically challenged will be as notified in para 2 above.

9. Application Form: You may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form. However, application form can be downloaded from NCERT website http://www.ncert.nic.in also.

10. The completed application form should be signed by Principal of the school. The candidate/Principal of the school must confirm the last date for submission of Application Form and where to submit it from the State/ UT liaison officer whose addresses are given in the end/NCERT website. Different states may have different last dates for submission of application forms. All queries relating to application forms should be made from State Liaison Officers (LOs). No application should be sent to NCERT.

11. Fees: States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. Therefore, before submitting the application form you may find out the fees charged for 2010 Stage-I Examination and also the mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officers (LOs). However, NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination.

12. Announcement of Results: Results of the Stage-I examination will be announced by the respective State Governments/ Union Territories. Results of Stage-II examination will be announced by NCERT.


13. Indian Students Studying Abroad can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure for class VIII which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up relevant items of the Application Form available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by 31 March 2011

The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” is an ongoing program started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.

This program strives to assist the students to realise their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is tapped for research and development in the country. Generous scholarships will be provided (up to the pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.

Eligibility:-

Basic Sciences

Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2010-2011 and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB+2: Students enrolled in Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2010 – 2011 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc/B.S./Intd. M.Sc) for the session 2011 – 2012 provided they secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc./B.S./Intd. M.Sc. during the academic year 2010–2011 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.

Stream SP (Basic Sciences): Students enrolled in XI/XII standard, I/II year (B.Sc../B.S./Int. M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences and I/II year B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. during the academic year 2010–2011 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X & XII Standard Board Examinations. Students enrolled in the II year B.Sc./B.S./Intd. M.Sc/B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. program must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination. A hard copy of an original and creative Science based research project is required to be submitted along with the application.

Note for Students applying for Stream SP (Basic Sciences)

This has been started in order to recognize and encourage creative and innovative talent of youngsters. The project carried out as part of this application should be based on novel and innovative ideas. The project can be experimental or theoretical in nature. However, the project must show that the applicant is creative and adventurous, and ready to explore. The project should not merely reflect use of certain techniques or reporting of routine experimentation improvement of an existing product or a technique may be accepted provided such improvement involves original ideas and creativity. One may try to incorporate some addition to the design or practical implementation that improves an existing technique. The main criteria that would be followed for selection for the interview would be originality and innovation. Only after these criteria are met, the level of sophistication and the nature of the project would be taken into consideration.

Eligibility:-

Medicine

Stream SP (Medicine): Students joining First / Second Professional year of MBBS program during the academic year 2010-2011. Students must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS exam with not less than 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks. A Copy of the Bio – Medical research project is required along with the application.

Note for Students applying for Medicine Stream SP (Medicine)

KVPY application requires the report of a project, chosen and executed by the applicant and supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field, to be submitted along with the application. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted at IISc., Bangalore. Application without the Bio-Medical project report will not be considered.

The project should not be a routine one (such as measuring well known property of materials etc.). Applicant’s creativity and originality should be amply reflected in the project. The supervising teacher/professional is required to provide two recommendation letters on the form (supplied along with the application form) certifying the extent of the applicant’s original contribution to the project.

Selection Procedure:-

Basic Sciences (SA, SB+2(SX) and SB)

After scrutiny of application forms and based on the performance in the Board Examination, all the eligible candidates from Streams SA, SB+2(SX) and SB will be called for a written aptitude test (conducted both in Hindi and English). The test will be conducted at different centers across the country on 31st October 2010. The details of the venue of the aptitude tests will be put on to the KVPY website in October 2010. Based on the performance in the aptitude test candidates will be called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

SP (Basic Sciences) and SP (Medicine)

KVPY applicant is required to submit the project report, chosen and executed by the candidate exclusively for this application. The projects done jointly with other candidates are not considered for KVPY Fellowship award. Applicant’s creativity and originality should be amply reflected in the project. This project has to be supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field. Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short listed candidates will be called for an interview, which is the final stage of the selection procedure. The interview will be conducted at IISc, Bangalore during the month of December 2010 or January 2011.

The A*STAR India Youth Scholarship is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE ‘A’) Level (or equivalent) certificate.

Candidates seeking admission to B. Arch. Programme should have a valid NATA score obtained in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture.

Admission will be done on Merit basis for which the merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in qualifying examination and NATA Test. Merit list will be available on IGNOU Website www.ignou.ac.in as well as on Website of respective Institutes.
