Applications are invited from highly motivated students for IUCAA – NCRA Admission Test (INAT- 2013) for research scholarship to do a Ph.D. at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune (an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission), or the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune, of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR is a deemed university and an autonomous institution of the Department of Atomic Energy).

IUCAA offers challenging opportunities to young researchers in theory, observation, and instrumentation in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Recently, IUCAA has acquired a share in the 10-m Southern African Large Telescope; it also operates the IUCAA Girawali Observatory with a 2-m optical telescope. Both these telescopes have imaging, spectroscopic and polarimetric capabilities. IUCAA also has a high-performance computational facility and a good library.

Eligibility
Applications are invited from students who expect to complete their M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc. or B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. degrees by August 2014 with 55% marks or more. In addition, talented final-year B.Sc., 1st year M.Sc., 4th year Integrated M.Sc. and 2nd/3rd year B.E./B.Tech. students may also apply to be PRE-SELECTED for a research scholarship towards a Ph.D. at IUCAA for Physics, or Astronomy and Astrophysics. Students in any branch of the B.E., B.Tech., M.E. or M.Tech. degrees, or in the Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics branches of the B.Sc. or M.Sc. degrees, are eligible to apply for INAT-2013. Students who have already completed any of the above degrees are also eligible.

Students in the final year of the B.Sc. (in the above branches) or who have completed their B.Sc. degree may also apply for selection to NCRA's integrated Ph.D. programme. Such students would attend one year of courses (taught in collaboration with IISER-Pune) before joining the IUCAA-NCRA graduate school.

Selection for the research scholarship will be through a written test on 30th December 2013 and two interviews on December 30 and /or 31,2013, both to be held at NCRA-TIFR, Pune.

IIHMR Master of Public Health Admissions 2013

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) Master of Public Health degree program to be offered in Jaipur, India in cooperation with the Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) will focus on public health capacity building in developing countries. The program is intended for citizens and residents of India and low and middle income countries in the region. The curriculum is designed to cultivate students’ health management skills so that they will be prepared to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public health programs and services. This program will prepare professionals for challenging careers in managerial positions in public health for both public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and national and multinational organizations. The collaboration between JHSPH and IIHMR will enable students to benefit from JHSPH’s track record of excellence in teaching public health courses and IIHMR’s expertise as a health management research institute in South East Asia. Coursework will involve a mix of both in-person and on-line classes (including a practicum experience and a capstone exercise), adding up to a total of 80 credits. Courses will be taken at the campus of the Indian Institute of Health Management Research in Jaipur, India.

The full-time Master of Public Health degree program will consist of 1 year of didactic coursework plus 1 year of practical training. Classes will begin October 26, 2013 at the Indian Institute for Health Management Research in Jaipur, India. In January 2014 students will travel to Baltimore, Maryland for two-weeks of classes at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. It is expected that classwork will end in late October 2014; this will be followed by practical training in the workplace. The Program offers students the unique opportunity to attend the same academically rigorous courses offered at JHSPH in Baltimore, MD with a convenient venue at the IIHMR.

The M.A in Women’s and Gender Studies at IGNOU is on offer from July 2013in distance mode. This 64 credit degree will equip students with the ability to deconstruct the complex power hierarchies and relationships operating in society, from the perspective of women and gender.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites application for a one year “Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables” (DVAPFV) Programme for July 2013 session. This programme was developed with financial support of Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India.

This diploma programme intends to inculcate vocational and entrepreneurial skills to widen employment opportunities, particularly among rural youth and the disadvantaged sections of the society as well as self employment.

The main objective of the programme is to provide the knowledge & skills for minimizing the post-harvest losses and production of value added food products, develop human resource for post harvest management and for primary processing of fruits and vegetables produce at the production areas/ clusters.

The minimum duration of the diploma programme is one year. However, the candidate has the flexibility of completing the programme within four years' time.

The eligibility requirement for this certificate programme is 10+2 pass-outs or Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) from IGNOU.

The programme fee is Rs. 12,000. The programme is offered in English and Hindi medium.

All the interested candidates from rural areas and below poverty line urban candidates can avail 50 per cent fee concession on submission of valid proof.

IGNOU offers Post Basic Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Nursing admission commencing in the session 2013-14.

The preperation and launching of Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree programme has been agreed upon by
IGNOU, at the request of Indian Nursing Council.

Programme structure: The University follows the credit system for its various Degree programmes. Each credit amounts to 30 hours
of study comprising all learning activities. Thus a four credit course involves 120 study hours and an eight credit course involves 240 study hours. To complete the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme successfully, student will have to earn 108 credits over a period of 3 to 5 years depending on her/his convenience.

The Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a three year Degree programme. This course has two major components: theory and practicals. It is divided into 22 courses; 11 theory and 11 practical.

Eligibility criteria:
10+2 with three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of two years experience in the profession. . (For male nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

OR

10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of five years experience in the profession. (For male nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM Programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

Full scholarships for studies in Singapore offered by the Agency of Science,Technology & Research-A*STAR and Singapore Airlines-SIA to outstanding Indian nationals born between 1997 to 1999

The A*STAR India Youth Scholarship is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE ‘A’) Level (or equivalent) certificate.

The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

Eligibility-:
* Nationals of India
* Born between 1997 and 1999
* Completed Standard 8 in the Year 2013
Possess outstanding academic track record (at least an average of 80% with English as first language in the Standard 7 and 8 school examinations
* Possess a high level of oral and written competency in English
